Are there still Medication shortages?

Table of Contents

This is inevitable unfortunately but also thankfully intermittent.
There have always been shortages of medications for all specialities and ADHD medicines are not immune to this. If a shortage occurs it is usually possible to prescribe an alternative either permanently or for a short period until the shortages resolve.
However although there may be shortages in Pharmacies being able to order medicines, this does not mean that the Pharmacies themselves do not already have certain medicines on their shelves. Thus at times, it may be necessary for patients to visit a few Pharmacies to get the medicine of choice.
Unfortunately, this is out of our control, however at the start of any prescribing process, if there is a shortage at that time which is known to the Clinician, we will always advise an alternative that should be attainable
