Comprehensive Autism Assessments and Consultations at ADHD Direct

At ADHD Direct, we provide comprehensive autism assessments for both children and adults to help individuals and their families better understand their strengths, traits and challenges. Our healthcare professionals have experience in identifying the signs and symptoms of ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and can help individuals and families better understand the condition.

Understanding the Signs and Symptoms of ASD

The symptoms of ASD can vary from person to person, but commonly include difficulties with social interaction, communication, and behaviour. These may include:

  • Social Interaction
    • Difficulty with social cues
    • Lack of interest in social interactions
    • Difficulty understanding emotions and/or responding to emotions
    • Difficulty developing and maintaining romantic and platonic relationships
  • Communication
    • Difficulty with verbal and nonverbal communication
    • Delayed language development
    • Difficulty starting and maintaining conversations
    • Difficulty understanding sarcasm and humour
  • Behaviour
    • Repetitive movements or behaviours
    • Fixation on specific interests or topics
    • Resistance to changes in routines or surroundings
    • Sensory sensitivities or difficulties with processing sensory information

It’s important to note that these symptoms can vary in severity and presentation from person to person and that an autism assessment should be conducted by a healthcare professional to provide an accurate diagnosis.

The Importance of Early Diagnosis for Individuals with ASD

Early diagnosis of ASD can provide a better understanding of an individual’s strengths and challenges and improve access to educational and vocational opportunities. Additionally, our autism assessment can provide access to funding and resources for support.

Our Personalised Care Approach to Autism Assessments

Our experienced team of healthcare professionals specialises in diagnosing individuals with ASD. We employ a personalised care approach to autism assessments, providing individuals and their families with the tools and resources needed to manage their unique challenges of living with ASD.

Our comprehensive autism assessment consists of two appointments. Before the first appointment, we send out some forms to gather information about the individual’s developmental history and current challenges. The first appointment is the assessment, which involves a range of tests and questionnaires to help diagnose ASD. We also conduct interviews with individuals and their families to gain a better understanding of their developmental history and current challenges. The second appointment is the feedback appointment, where our team of healthcare professionals will discuss the results of the assessment.

Unsure if an Autism Assessment is the right choice?

If you’re unsure if an autism assessment is the right choice for you or your loved one, we also offer autism consultations. Our consultations provide an opportunity for individuals and their families to discuss concerns and receive guidance from our experienced healthcare professionals.
