I am a Registered Learning Disability Nurse and a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I have 30 years nursing and management experience in a variety of clinical settings within mental health and learning disabilities services in both the public and private sector.

During this time, I have developed extensive clinical experience within this field, especially with people who are living with complex needs. I have experience in clinical areas that provide care and treatment for adults, adolescents and children, who have a mental health condition, neurological condition, learning disability or are living with a co-morbid diagnosis. Throughout this time, I have achieved positive clinical outcomes related to people who have complex conditions and assisted in the reduction of behaviours that can negatively impact on their quality of life. Through working directly with service users, families and carers this care and support facilitates improvement on their day-to-day life experiences.

I have worked as a service manager within addiction services and community based residential and nursing homes. My community-based experience includes CAMHS-LD and CAMHS inpatient settings as well as acute admission/assessment, forensic, residential, rehabilitation, alcohol and addictions service, and ASD services.

I have also lived and worked on the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. I recently returned to Scotland and worked as a Mental Health Specialist Nurse in the NHS. It was during this time that my interest was re-ignited in particular for people who are living with neurodivergent conditions.

In my spare time I enjoy hillwalking and weekends away with my wife. I also enjoy following motorbike road racing all over the country and going out on my motorbike when the weather permits. Hence why I enjoyed the Isle of Man so much and its passion for motorbike racing. My good friend is a successful Isle of Man TT racer.
