I qualified with a Bachelor’s degree in Adult Nursing in 2013 and began my career in the acute sector of the NHS. Shortly after becoming a mother, I transitioned to the private sector, spending 9 years working in care homes, where I had the opportunity to nurse individuals with a variety of comorbidities. I started as a Staff Nurse and progressed to Unit Manager, and through this experience, my passion for elderly care deepened. A significant challenge arose during the COVID-19 pandemic, where I cared for those at high risk and provided support to both families and staff.
After my time in the private sector, I returned to the NHS, working within the Phlebotomy and District Nursing services, where I nursed individuals from the age of 5 and above. During this time, I encountered a variety of conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders, and developed a greater understanding of the unique support required for this population. This role significantly expanded my knowledge and skills, particularly in the community setting.
My personal journey has also deepened my interest in neurodivergent healthcare. After noticing traits of ADHD in my son at the age of 2, he was later suggested to have the condition. This experience has fueled my commitment to ensuring that neurodiverse individuals, both adults and children, have equitable access to high-quality care and support. I am passionate about advocating for services that understand and cater to the specific needs of the neurodiverse community.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality moments with friends and family. I have two children and love traveling with them, exploring beautiful places, and educating them on history.
