Free ADHD Screening

In a world full of pop-up offers and confusing promises, it’s easy to get swept up by services charging for things that should be free — like ADHD screening. If you’re unsure whether you or your child might benefit from a full ADHD assessment, please know this: validated ADHD screening tools are available online for free, and they’re a great place to start.

We’ve recently noticed some providers promoting “screening as part of their package” to suggest added value — but this isn’t the case. In fact, the most widely used and validated screening tool, the ASRS (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale) developed by the World Health Organization, is freely accessible to anyone.

Access the ASRS Screening Tool here

This simple, easy-to-use questionnaire can help you reflect on your focus, attention, impulsivity, and more — and give you a sense of whether pursuing a formal assessment makes sense for you. You don’t need to spend a penny just to find out if ADHD might be part of your story.

Still unsure? That’s okay. At ADHD Direct, we offer dedicated consultation sessions with specialist clinicians, designed to guide you with honesty and clarity — whether online or at our newly designed, neurodivergent-friendly clinic.

We’re passionate about access, authenticity, and doing what’s right for patients — not sales. So before you pay for something you don’t need, try the ASRS screening first.

If it resonates, we’re here to help you take the next step with confidence.

For Children

The SNAP-IV (Swanson, Nolan and Pelham Rating Scale) is a widely used and well-validated tool designed to help identify symptoms of ADHD in children and young people.

Based on the DSM diagnostic criteria, the SNAP-IV is completed by parents and teachers, gathering information from the key adults in a child’s life to build a fuller picture of their behaviour and difficulties across different settings — at home and at school.

The questionnaire covers core ADHD symptoms including inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, and can also help identify oppositional behaviours that sometimes occur alongside ADHD.

It is important to note that the SNAP-IV is a screener, not a diagnostic tool. A positive result does not confirm a diagnosis of ADHD, but rather helps to indicate whether a full clinical assessment may be beneficial.
