What Is ADHD?
ADHD is something you are born with. It means your brain works a little differently. It does not mean you are naughty. It means:
- your brain is super busy,
- you have lots of ideas,
- you might find it hard to sit still,
- and sometimes your thoughts move faster than other people’s.
Lots of children have ADHD, and it just means your brain is wired in a special way.
Why Do I Feel the Way I Do?
Sometimes you might:
- fidget or move a lot,
- forget things easily,
- get upset quickly,
- lose focus when things are boring,
- or rush into things before thinking.
This is not your fault. Your brain is trying its best.
What Can Help Me at School?
Your teachers can help by:
- giving you short instructions,
- letting you take movement breaks,
- sitting you somewhere with fewer distractions,
- using pictures, timers, or checklists,
- helping you with big tasks by breaking them into smaller steps.
You can ask your teacher for help anytime.
What Can I Do to Help Myself?
You can try:
- taking deep breaths when you feel upset,
- using a fidget toy,
- asking for a break when things feel too much,
- moving your body when your teacher says it’s okay,
- using a checklist to remember your tasks.
You are not alone—lots of children with ADHD use these tools.
You Are Amazing
Children with ADHD are often:
- funny,
- creative,
- great problem-solvers,
- caring,
- full of energy and imagination.
Your brain is special. There is nothing wrong with you.
